Ruby on Rails is a new software technology that alows the creation of flexible database-centered web systems with great ease. Lately, the CCSL at IME has been using this framework, which is free/open source software, in some projects, both for education and research. The programmers involved have noticed a great productivity boost and are very satisfied with the possibility of creating elegant and legible code for complex web systems.
The IME-USP FOSS Competence Center and the IndT (Nokia Institute odf Tecnology) promote at IME-USP, from 08-25 to 08-29, the Mobility Week with lectures and training on the platform maemo (languages C and Python).
The novelty will be the involvement of designers who will speak on design for software (mobile applications and open source).
The IME-USP FOSS competence center receives CELEPAR, informatics enterprise of Paraná government, one of the most active institutions in the production and dissemination of free software in the public sphere, to promote the Paraná Free Software Circuit on August 22 and 23. The event has been done for more than two years itinerantly around Brazil. This year, the stage of São Paulo has the endorsement of IME and the CCSL. Participate!

Em seguida, para ressetar as papilas auditivas, teremos como sorbet tecnológico uma palestra do Prof. Jef sobre modelagem e implementação de bases de dados em contextos ágeis.

Presentation on the Ambassador program by Sun at IME/USP.
Some USP employees will take a course on intermediate linux at the CCSL, dealing with shell scripting and network services configuration, such as SMTP, HTTP, DNS, NFS etc. Classes will take place on June 04th, June 11th, June 18th, June 25th, and July 02nd.
Two new articles were published on the Borboleta project.
They are:
IME/USP students attending the eXtreme Programming Laboratory course will work on CCSL projects.
During the course semester, the students will work with several projects to exercise the XP methodology. On this semester, thanks to the large number of students attending, several CCSL projects will be the target of the development efforts of the students:
Archimedes has been migrated to the Eclipse RCP.
During the migration to the Eclipse RCP (Rich Client Platform), some functionality has not been ported yet; however, the team is working hard to make sure that new versions not only reincorporate these features, but also have new ones as well. Stay tuned!
The previously Portuguese-only AcMus tutorial is finally available in English.
