Free Computing Workshop for Scientists - second edition

After the success of the first edition, the CCSL, together with the Biology Institute (IB-USP) and the Polytechnic School's FLOSS Study Group (PoliGNU), is pleased to once again support the workshop provided by the Software Carpentry Foundation, a north-american non-profit dedicated to better prepare researchers on computing know-how.

The event intends to aid scientists from varying fields in efficiently dealing with computers, for example by automating repetitive tasks with Python and by versioning materials with Git, and, whenever possible, with Free Software.

The workshop, which is offered for free, will take two days (September 10th and 11th), when the participants will receive hands-on lessons about the UNIX terminal, Python programming, and Git + GitLab/GitHub.
