We are pleased to announce the launch of the new version of CoGrOO Comunidade(CoGrOO Community), a colaborative portal to enhance CoGrOO!
The user community is the main contributor for the success of this project, as we reached 90 registered members and more than 200 text samples only five months after its creation. These sample texts are very important to improve the grammar checker.
Some of the news launched with this version are:
- An easier-to-use interface, based on usability studies
- Users can now change their password
- A new favicon
- Changes notifications can now be send by e-mail
- Feed RSS and a new Twitter account (@CoGrCom) to watch for new sample texts and comments
- An user permission system so that users, developers and linguists can fully exercise their abilities
Other changes were also reported on our social networks:
CoGrOO Comunidade is an open-source project developed by volunteers with support from the FLOSS Competence Center (CCSL) at IME/USP and the brazilan community of LibreOffice.
We would like also to thank:
- Ana Paula Oliveira dos Santos, for the heuristic evaluation of usability, which guided us to the improvements implemented by Michel Oleynik;
- Thisby Alarcón Khury, for designing the new site icon (favicon);
- FLOSS Competence Center, for their support and infrastructure specially Beraldo Leal for the server configuration;
- family members, friends and developers girlfriends, for their patience and comprehension on the “free” hours developers give to open-source projects.
The new version of the portal can be accessed on the following address: http://ccsl.ime.usp.br/cogroo/comunidade.
CoGrOO Comunidade developers team,
Michel Oleynik, Wesley Seidel, William Colen
