Title:  "The Israeli startup ecosystem and what can we learn from it"
Presenter: Prof. Fabio Kon (IME/USP)
Where: Auditório Antonio Gilioli (Bloco A at IME)
When: May 5th, 2014
Time: from 16:00 to 17:30

The presentation will be transmitted over IPTV.

Abstract:
On the 21st century, the technological startup model is establishing itself as the most effective approach for transfering scientific and technological innovations to the society at large.

In this presentation, I will present the results of a qualitative research about the Israeli software startup ecosystem, performed during my stay as a visiting professor at the Technion University during the second semester of 2013. Tel-Aviv is the second largest startup center in the world, after Silicon Valley, and is of particular interest for brazilians because it is closer to our reality than the north-american context.

I will present a conceptual framework showing the main elements that compose a productive ecosystem for technological innovation through digital entrepreneurship and software startups. I will offer a few examples of interesting startups I visited and will finish with a discussion on the current status of the Brazilian startup ecosystem and what can be done to strengthen it.
