Open Innovation, Startup Ecosystems and their EvolutionIn the 21st century, the startup ecosystems are proving one of the most effective way for technological innovation production, role previously played by big companies and research laboratories. In the digital world, software startups are, with no doubt, the greatest source of innovation. But, for them to be effective, it is essential that they are placed in a healthy ecosystem, promoting collaboration with high intensity and quality. In this talk, we discuss the issues listed above as well as their relationship with intellectual property, open innovation and open source software. Finally, we present the results of our recent research on the evolution and maturity of software startups ecosystems. |

Fabio Kon is a full professor of computer science at IME-USP, research for innovation assistant coordinator of FAPESP and Editor-in-Chief of SpringerOpen Journal of Internet Services and Applications, works on Digital Entrepreneurship, Free Software, Distributed Systems and Smart Cities areas. In addition to strong performance as a researcher, with several papers in high-impact international venues, Fabio is a volunteer adviser to several software startups. |
