What is the CCSL

The CCSL (FLOSS Competence Center) at IME/USP is a center supported by FINEP, by the USP rectorate, and by the QualiPSo initiative and hosted at the Computer Science Department at IME/USP, São Paulo, Brazil. The center has collaborations with  ICMC/USP-São Carlos and  EACH/USPLeste and its projects are funded by Brazilian Research Agencies such as CNPq, CAPES, and FAPESP.

Its objective is to foster the development and adoption of FLOSS (Freely-licensed Open Source Software). As such, it acts as an umbrella organization for several scientific and technological research projects, free and open source development projects, events for the community, technical courses, and technical and scientific support on topics related to free software and open standards.

Since January/2009, CCSL is an official member of the international Qualipso Network of Competence Centres, whose goal is to disseminate the results of the Qualipso Project on FLOSS quality.

The CCSL played an inportant role in the establishment of the international FLOSSCC Network and, in early 2010, helped to create the FLOSSCC Network Web Portal.
