The USP FLOSS Competence Center with the help of the PoliGNU group invite everyone to the I FLOSS Week at USP (SSL-USP)

Building Web Robots with Ruby

It is very easy to create robots to search the Web for data, besides the incredible possibility to automatize repetitive and bureaucratic tasks. We will show in this talk how to do it in a simple, fast and effective way, using Nokogiri, RestClient, JSON, and some other Ruby gems. What is possible to automate? What are the challenges that were not overcomed? How to avoid Robots in your web site?
