The CCSL has promoted a short course on "Free Software use in the industry: intelectual property and business models" during the ESELAW 2008, at Salvador, on November 7th.

Abstract: The increasing adoption of free software demands a change inside companies towards new forms of commecial relationships between suppliers and consumers of free software-related products. During this minicourse, we will discuss, on the one hand, free software licences and their consequences for developers, service suppliers and users; and, on the other hand, several business models directly or indirectly related to free software. We will touch the current position of free software in the market, free licence characteristics and compatibility problems, success stories of companies making use of free software business models, and open opportunities for entrepreneurship.
